Who we are
MEAHLVANAM is a registered non-profit organization devoted to conserving nature focusing on reversing the alarming decline of our biodiversity of native flora and fauna.
“Biodiversity” is all the variety of living species (trees, plants, birds, animals, insects, microbes) in our surroundings that keep our ecosystem functional and resilient. Due to habitat loss, human activities and ignorant human mindset, biodiversity is seriously threatened. The loss of native species disrupts the interdependence between living beings leading to cascading effects that undermine ecosystem services such as pollination, water regulation, carbon storage, and soil fertility. We are committed to an eco-restoration approach aiming to revitalize natural habitats to bring back flora and fauna and their vital interactions. Through eco-restoration, we not only preserve biodiversity of our environment but the continuity of life-supporting processes essential for human survival as well.
What we do
Our activities include habitat restoration, animal rescue, natural farming all with the perspective of biodiversity and habitat conservation. We also embraced the traditional wisdom of using herbal medicine for cattle health, working to preserve indigenous cow breeds and contribute to biodiversity conservation. We rescued many abandoned squirrel pups, nurtured and later released into the wild. This experience gave us immense contentment.
- Meahlvanam is creating a biodiversity model through eco-restoration approach on a wild farmland at Kadakkavur, Trivandrum, Kerala.
- We are joining hands with Braille Without Borders (Kanthari) for this project to take our vision forward.
- This eco-restoration approach is holistic and systemic, preserving biodiversity of our flora and fauna. The model can be replicated in human-inhabited areas and forest areas to reverse the decline of our biodiversity.

Vision
Meahlvanam envisions fertile ecosystems with flourishing flora and fauna biodiversity where multiple microhabitats thrive within every habitat. Humans coexist in an eco-conscious manner sharing earth with other living beings fostering responsible connections with nature.
Mission
Biodiversity Conservation and Eco-Restoration
Restore ecosystems to their natural state, creating microhabitats that nurture biodiversity and strengthen ecological interactions.
Native Species Recovery
Reviving and restoring declining native species of trees, plants and their associated fauna to rebuild resilient ecosystems and preserve biodiversity for future generations.
Nature Learning and Inclusivity
Connect children of all abilities with nature through hands-on learning, fostering a deep appreciation and action for ecosystems and their vital role in sustaining life.
Sustainable Agriculture and Traditional Knowledge
Demonstrate harmony between farming and biodiversity by integrating natural practices, enriching soil health and reviving traditional wisdom for community sustainability.
